
Executive Director, Friends of the National Center
With nearly 25 years of nonprofit leadership, Sarah Swanson specializes in corporate partnerships, fundraising, systems development, and advancing organizational missions. As Executive Director of Friends of the National Center, she champions initiatives supporting the important work of the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) and the US National Science Foundation National Center for Atmospheric Research (NSF NCAR), driving engagement and funding for STEM education, mentorship, and fellowship programs with a focus on increasing access and opportunities in Earth system sciences.
Sarah holds a BA in Journalism from the University of Oregon and an MA in Intercultural Relations from Lesley University, blending strong communication skills with cross-cultural expertise. Originally from Oregon, she spent a decade in Boston before settling in Colorado in 2010 with her husband and two children. A dedicated community advocate, Sarah serves as President of her local School Board and volunteers with several nonprofits.
